• Picture 1: Heat Can Not Stop Me

I always wondered what it’s like to be able to control fire. When I was younger, I used to love times where there was a black out at home. It would be the only time I was allowed near fire. My sister and I would always come up with illusions and tricks to play on a lighted candle without burning ourselves...

  • Picture 2: Fishes Are Friends

Has anyone ever asked you that if you could be an animal, what animal would you want to be and why? It’s a broad question with no right or wrong answer. I used to want to be a puppy when I was a kid because it was so adorable but...

  • Picture 3: Even In Death

Have you ever had a déjà vu? Where you do or experience something that you felt like you have already done or experienced before? Sometimes it makes you think to yourself “hey, I’ve dreamt of this before”. And in certain cases it makes you think “hey, I dreamt I thought to myself that I dreamt this happened before”. I just like to think that those are...

  • Picture 4: Back to Nature

When I was a little girl, I loved nature. I used to play with insects and dig up earthworms and snails. I would spend my evenings laying on the grass and watching the clouds go by. My mom and I would watch the clouds and point out shapes of the clouds that make up...

  • Picture 5: My Ultimate Childhood Fantasy

Being a typical girly-girl when I was a kid, I used to loved cartoons like My Little Pony and Care Bears. I always wanted a unicorn as a pet and I absolutely love rainbows and stars and in fact, I still do. I always wondered what it would be like to be in Care Bear’s town or...

Wings

How is it done?
The wings used in my images are digitally created by photoshop. To create wings, it is advisable to use a stylus and trackpad as each strand of fur on each feather are created separately in short strokes of brush. This is how it is done.

  1. The four colours used are as shown. You can use different tones of colour as well. Use a thin brush with colour #1 and create a shape of the wind you want to have.
  2. Using colour #3 with a soft edged brush, stroke the angle of the wing's feathers. Name this layer Wing Base
  3. with the opacity at 65%, using the same brush with colour #1, create strokes for the line you created for the shape of the wing
  4. with a smaller brush with colour #2 at 85% opacity, draw the angle of the feathers
  5. With same brush and opacity, use colour #4 and paint in the darker area of the wing
  6. using the Smudge tool set at 45% strength, choose the brush as shown and smudge the wing in small short strokes to soften the wing.
  7. Create a new layer called Wing Edge. Choose a small round brush with colour #1 and create strokes where you want the feathers to be.
  8. Create new layer called Inner Feathers. choose a tiny brush with colour #1 and draw the "stalk" of the feathers.
  9. On each feather "stalk", choose a micro brush and draw each strand of fur for the feather. you can use a wavy line or curved line for the fur. Relax while doing this. It's a major PAIN
  10. Using the Blur tool, soften the edges
  11. Go to Wing Edge layer and use a small brush with colour #1 and add in more strands of fur.
  12. Using the same smudge setting, pull the feather outwards
  13. Use a thinner brush and fill in the wing with more fur to make it look full. Merge all layers
  14. With the burn tool, set midtones at 30% and brush it over darker area of the wing
Now you have a wing. Go ahead and experiment with different colour and shape.
